In a keenly contested game against two of the Spanish leagues finest, Atletico started todays game like every other game, wanting to be on the front foot. Shortly after, Atleti took the lead, a well derserved goal on the 10 minute mark, with the goal coming from Koke.
Atletico Madrid had set the tone and all they needed to do was to keep their cool and maintained the rythm to a fantastic game that they had taken the lead on. Barca kept piling the pressure and eventually it paid off, with a fine assist from Jordi Alba, Messi scored to put Barcelona back in the game.
Dani Alves, has been in fine form this season and he proved his worth to the team yet again by providing a lobbed long pass that found Suarez, and trust the Uruguayan to always score, when he’s not off form.
Diego Simeone, has always thought his players to be very aggressive on the field, and against teams that are well organised, Atlectico has suffered defeats, just like they did against Celta Vigo.
Barcelona, has a game in hand and are scheduled to play Sporting, and if Barcelona wins that fixture, then they stand clear leaders on the top of the La Liga table. According to Simeone, the league is for Barca to loose. It begs the question, would Atletico Madrid have won todays match if they had chosen to play tactically as opposed to playing with so much aggression and less brain? No wonder they had to play the rest of the game two men short, due to being too physical.
